January was a cool collection of goodies. Everything from energy drinks, salty snacky things, dinner ideas, breakfast must-haves, and snack bases. They’re all here.
Also, I’d like to mention I bought a 3-month subscription for my omnivorous brother Freddy and he’s really loved it! His first month went out in December and he’ll receive his last box in the next couple of weeks. I know he loves the snackables that can be consumed immediately like chips and bars. And he really really liked the Scheckter’s Organic Energy Drinks. So much so that the same night he tried it he headed over to Amazon and bought a case.
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions or if there’s something else you’d like to know about the snacks in today’s post. Thanks for reading!
Here’s the collection. Let’s start at the top.
Peaceful Fruits — Fruit Leather — ★★★★
Description: This is a wild superfruit snack, made to sustain you and the Amazon Rainforest. The deep purple of our slow-dried fruit snack, made from 100% organic fruit, comes from the more than 35 açaí berries we pack into every strip! Known for it’s antioxidants, amino acids, and healthy omegas, açaí is bursting with goodness straight from the Amazon. We take that superfruit acai and blend it with the warm, sweet, zing of pineapple to create a snack that will put a smile on your face and brighten up any afternoon, hike, or kid just home from school! It’s a beautiful little rectangle of dried fruit. I received the Açai + Pineapple combo and I love it! It has a creamy tropical flavor that I’ve never experienced before. One serving has 30 calories, 1.5 grams fat, 60 mg potassium, 1 gram fiber, and 3 grams sugar. Plus the packaging is compostable.
Available at Amazon • Peaceful Fruits
Wild Friends Foods —Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter —★★★★
Description: Decadent chocolate coconut peanut butter that’s low in sugar and free of palm oil.
Delicious!! How I’ve been using this and another nut butter we received is to remove one peel off of a banana. Spread a stripe of peanut butter and then eat. I’ve had the opportunity to try several of their peanut butters over the last few years and their sugar cookie/snickerdoodle one is my favorite!!
Most of their peanut/almond butters are vegan, but not all so be sure read the ingredients.
Available at Amazon
Live Smart Bar — Original Fruit & Nut Bar — ★★★★
Description: Wholesome fruit + nut bar rich in antioxidants & packed with vitamins and minerals.
Ingredients: Premium fruit & nut mix (chopped dates, almonds, raisins, hazelnuts & walnuts), flax chia crisp, brown rice syrup, almond butter, natural raisin juice (concentrate), brown rice crisp, salt & natural orange flavor.
I didn’t end up getting to try this one! Jeremy brought it with for breakfast/snack on a recent road trip. What did he think? TASTY
This bar had 190 calories, 9 grams fat, 3 grams fiber, and 5 grams protein.
Available at Amazon
Earnest Eats — Chewy Granola Bar — ★★★★
Description: Antioxidant rich superfood bar to awaken your tastebuds and get you moving.
Delicious. Reminds of a better version-Quaker chewy granola bar. Contains oats, quinoa, amaranth, and flax seeds.
Available at Amazon • Vegan Cuts • Earnest Eats
Scheckter’s — Organic Energy Drink — ★★★★
BONUS ITEM
Description: We wanted to create a 100% natural, organic energy drink that tastes great and gives you a sustained mental and physical energy boost.
To do this we sourced the highest quality organic ingredients and never use any artificial colours, artificial flavours or artificial preservatives.
I can’t imagine a scenario where’d I drink an energy drink regularly, but they’re kind of a fun treat. That sounds so weird. 😂 I would enjoy a cold one after a 90F run or bike ride. That would be pretty amazing. I really like Scheckter’s energy drink. It has good flavor that’s bright with just the right amount of fizz.
Available at Amazon
Open Road Snacks — Blue Popcorn — ★★★
Description: Sinfully Thin blue popcorn that’s slightly sweeter and more tender than regular popcorn.
The flavor was pretty good. The kernels were small and there seemed to a few husks and unpopped kernels.
Oogie’s — Spicy Chipotle Lime Popcorn — ★★★
BONUS ITEM
Description: A southwestern staple, Chipotlé are made from the finest deep red jalapeños then smoked for days to remove the moisture (it takes ten pounds of jalapeños to make one pound of Chipotlé!). These hip peppers deliver a deliciously spicy concoction with just the right balance of heat and sweet. We added a subtle kiss of lime to take you all the way to the bottom of the bag.
Tasty popcorn indeed. Love the chipotle/lime combination. Popped kernels are big and perfectly loaded with flavor.
Available at Oogie’s
Beanitos — Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips — ★★★★
Description: Corn-free chips made from black beans and rice with a hint of lime.
Ingredients: Whole Navy Beans, Whole Grain Rice, Pure Sunflower and/or Safflower Oil, Real Lime Juice, Sea Salt, Guar Bean Gum.
It is just crazy to me that these chips are beans and rice. Ca-razy! They taste just like a Tostito’s hint of lime chips. And these have more protein and fiber per serving than the latter. I hope our Dissmore’s gets this flavor in soon. 💚
Available at Amazon • Beanitos
Zema’s Madhouse Foods — Sweet Potato Pancake & Waffle Mix — ★★★★
Description: Grown in Peru, hot off your griddle, these nutrient packed pancakes stack up like no other. Natural sweetness with a hint of fall spices, organic cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
Oh. My. God. Just amazing. I was like cool these are made from sweet potatoes, I wish they were pumpkin spice flavored. And they were!! Well, they have cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger-so yeah. I made them pretty much according to package directions, but used coconut sugar, 1.5 teaspoons chia flour, and 4 oz coconut milk/juice. I cooked them in our Cuisinart Griddler with the waffle plates inserted, set the temperature to 400F and cooked them 5-10 minutes. Topped them off with Nancy’s soy yogurt, cinnamon, and a little bit of maple syrup.
All of their products are vegan and gluten-free.
Available at Amazon • Zema’s Madhouse Foods [25% off 1st order: SAMPLE]
Explore Asian — Pad Thai Noodles — ★★★★
Description: Noodles made entirely from beans and water that’ll make your next salad or pasta dish delicious.
I received the Thai Red Rice Noodles and can’t wait to use them! There’s a nice little recipe on the back that can easily be veganized.
Available at Amazon • Explore Asian
Rebel Kitchen — Coffee Mylk Drink — ★★★★
Description: Delicious organic coffee coconut mylk sweetened with dates.
This coffee-flavored coconut milk was pretty tasty!! It only has 4 ingredients: filtered water, coconut milk, date nectar, and coffee. My only note would be that there are big chunks of, I’m guessing coconut cream, which you’d probably be able to blend out, but considering it’s a chilled drink and coconut solidifies, I’m not sure how you could avoid it.
I had it with a VooDoo Doughnut peanut butter oreo doughnut Jeremy brought back from Portland. Best husband ever award.
And now they’re both gone. 😩
Available at Rebel Kitchen (they’re also available on Amazon, but nearly twice the price)
