Vegan Cuts $10 off coupon code thru 3/31/16: FEBSNACKS
A timely review! Who am I?? Meet extra organized Michelle or at least trying to be. 😏 February’s snack box contained 11 vegan snacks like nut butters, tea, protein bars, weird ‘coffees’, freezer pops, and more!
Noka Organics — Superfood Blend, Sweet Potato/Goji — ★★★★
Description: Pumpkin sometimes steals the spotlight, but sweet potatoes are higher in beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A for healthy skin, vision and immunity. We spiced them up with cinnamon and sweetened the blend with dates and banana, then added Goji Berries, one of the most nutritionally dense foods on earth. Native to the Himalayas, Goji Berries contain essential amino acids, vitamin C and trace minerals. The energy sustaining benefits of flax and brown rice protein round out this nutritional powerhouse of a pouch.
I am really liking the adult baby food trend! Or smoothies in a bag, but once you put puréed fruit and veg in a bag, it just tastes like baby food. 😂 Noka’s sweet potato + goji one was delicious! I can pick up on the banana flavor which is my favorite, but there’s other good stuff in this superfood pouch too!
Ingredients: Organic Sweet Potato, Organic Apple, Organic Banana, Water, Organic Date, Organic Flax Seed, Organic Brown Rice Protein, Organic Goji Berry, Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate, Organic Cinnamon
Every Noka superfood blend is vegan.

Four Sigmatic — Mushroom Coffee — ★★★★
Description: Antioxidant rich mushroom coffee to add a boost of mental clarity to your day.
Tastes just like coffee with an extra nice bitter aftertaste. I’m a little bit familiar with the beneficial properties of mushrooms and their extracts. I used to watch a lot of Dara Dubinet and she whips up some awesome tonics. In the past I’ve bought a reishi extract that I added to smoothies or my morning tea. This seems like an easy way to have coffee + the many benefits of mushrooms. [benefits of chaga mushrooms • yamabushitake]

FREAKING LOVE. I don’t know if it was the delivery method or what, but this pouch and I were best friends for about 2 weeks. I would squeeze a little directly into my mouth, on my finger, on toast, on bananas, on apples, and the list goes on. My favorite go-to way was to peel off the length of one banana peel segment and run a stripe of the almond butter across. Then peel back the rest of the peel as I ate it. Another cool thing I just read on their site is that one of the owners is way into fermenting. A++ highly recommend.
I Heart Keenwah — Quinoa Puffs, Sweet Chili — ★★★★
Description: Tangy and sweet quinoa puffs with a little kick thanks to a dash of habanero and jalapeño.
Ingredients: Quinoa Puff (Quinoa Flour, Brown Rice Flour, White Rice Flour, Pea Protein Concentrate, Baking Powder), High Oleic Sunflower Oil, Seasoning: Organic Cane Sugar, Paprika, Salt, Spices, Dehydrated Garlic, Dehydrated Onion, Habaneros, Jalapeños, Citric Acid, Extractives of Lime.
These sweet chili quinoa puffs have a killer crunch and light flavor that throws heat in the aftertaste. I love the texture and wish they had a vegan cheese flavor. Jeremy could eat several too even with the spice, just more breaks in between. 😂🌶
Available at I Heart Keenwah
Steve’s Frozen Chillers — Fruit Chiller, Orange — ★★★

Ingredients: pineapple juice concentrate, Florida orange juice concentrate, filtered water, citric acid, natural flavors, beta carotene, ascorbic acid, gum arabic, orange oils, ester gum, xanthan gum, vitamin a palmitate.
I’m saving this one until it gets a little bit warmer out, but I’m excited! 🍊🍊🍊 One sling is 4 fluid ounces of juice, 60 calories, 15 grams sugar, 25% vitamin a, 80% vitamin c, and 1% calcium.

Live Smart Bar — Flax Bar, Original — ★★★★
Description: Nutritious snack bar packed with dried fruit, nuts, flax, and a hint of orange.
Most definitely delicious. It has a soft yet chewy-crunchy texture. The flavor is lightly beyond the nuts and seeds with a little hint of cinnamon and fruitiness. I love the crunchy puffs of rice + there’s flax seed, oats, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, dates, almonds, walnuts, coconut, green tea, sesame seeds, apricots, raisins, and blueberries.
💻 I’ve never done this before, but I have a few recommendations for their website. Make shopping available or remove the cart icon. It’s confusing. In case it was a browser issue, I tested in Firefox and Chrome (on mac osx) with the same result. If shopping is in fact available it’s not accessible through any of the front-facing links. Put company information up (about/faq). Create a page dedicated to where customers can find your product, maybe a store locator? Have a contact page with links to social media outlets, encourages conversation. You have such a good product and information about it should be easily available.
Available at Amazon (it seems there’s not a bulk discount for buying 12, but I can’t find another store that offers them)
Ecotrek Fitness — Whole Food Bar — ★★★★
Description: Delicious dark chocolate and toasted coconut bars made with a superfood blend.
LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Ecotrek Fitness is new to me and thank goodness, because I’m in love. I received the dark chocolate raspberry flavor. This bar looks like a candy bar and tastes somewhere in between a really good protein bar and straight up candy nougat. I don’t even know. It has 6 servings of fruits and vegetables, 10 grams protein, and 5 grams fiber. 😩 I want more!
Ecotrek has 3 bars [dark chocolate raspberry, dark chocolate peanut butter, and dark chocolate toasted coconut] and they are all vegan. I just placed an order for dark chocolate raspberry and dark chocolate peanut butter. 😍
Available at EcoTrek Fitness
Organic India — Herbal Tea — ★★★★
Description: Pure organic herbal tea, sustainably sourced from farms in India.
I’m a huge fan of Organic India. I almost forget where or when it started, but I think it was the Tulsi Sweet Rose tea. I love rose things and picked it up. Their products are available at many grocery stores including Moscow Food-Coop local friends. I’ve tried their supplements too (neem and ashwagandha).
This sample included two teas, a tulsi green tea and tulsi moringa tea. Both were great and even held up to second steepings. 😋 I believe they also have loose varieties for many of their teas.
Manitoba Harvest — Hemp Heart Bar — ★★★★
Description: Apple cinnamon bars packed with 10 grams of plant-based protein and 10 grams of omegas.
Manitoba Harvest is another brand I’m a huge fan of. They specialize in hemp heart products. We’ve had their hemp hearts, plain hemp protein powder, vanilla hemp protein powder, hemp bites, and chocolate hemp protein powder. Love them all. Same goes for this hemp heart bar. Great apple cinnamon flavor with a soft chewy texture. Hemp hearts are about 33% protein, 9% omega-3 essential fatty acids, and have good amounts of vitamin e and iron.
Go Raw — Sprouted Watermelon Seeds — ★★★★
Description: High in protein and full of nutty flavor, these will be the first snack you reach for after a workout, before class, at your desk—or any time you need a healthy, filling snack on the go!
Who even knew? I’m thrilled to get a sample of these to try. I recently spotted them at Safeway under the organic produce, but am usually hesitant because of the $10 price tag. I’m pretty familiar with the brand Go Raw from my high/100% raw food days and they have a number of high quality offerings. If you love pumpkin seeds you will LOVE these! They are white, light, and subtly salted.
Drink Salad Power — Salad Power — ★★★★
Description: SaladPower is the world’s first drinkable salad. Every SaladPower is jam-packed with a superfood salad blend, so all of our flavors are nutrient dense and low in calories + sugar. Some flavors include fruit too. Drop the forks and Drink Your Salad!
A great alternative to V8. This tastes more natural and isn’t overloaded with sodium. Each serving has 60 calories, 2 grams fiber, 2 grams protein, 222% vitamin a, 4890% vitamin c, 8% calcium, and 1% iron. All those goodies come from kale, celery, carrot, bell pepper, cucumber, tomato, and spinach.
I’m not sure where this is available yet?!
World Peas — Ranch — ★★★★
Description: In Texas, we love ranch with everything. Our Santa Barbara Ranch Peas capture the sour cream and herb sensation first popularized at a famous California dude ranch — and ours is dairy free!
Ingredients: green peas (imported from the UK), corn starch, modified corn starch, cane sugar, refined soy bean oil, salt, natural flavors, dextrose, maltodextrin, citric acid, malic acid, silica, spices
Awesome snack! I’ve received a few of their products in past Vegan Cuts that haven’t gone up yet. If you’re not familiar with World Peas imagine the beloved wasabi pea, but expand the flavor game. These peas are dairy-free with a short ingredient list.
We received a little postcard for the company Well Vegan. They offer meal plans, shopping lists, recipes, and more. Cute website with a lot of helpful information for the newbie or long-term vegan.
