Loved it/bought it since ★★★★ • Good stuff ★★★ • Not for me ★★ • Hated it ★

My review for the November 2014 Vegan Cuts snack box.

Hail Merry – Choco Macaroons – ★★★★

Description: The perfect balance of indulgent and healthy, these almost-raw macaroons are the perfect dessert.

I’ve been a fan of Hail Merry since my 100% raw food days. They have the most amazing selection of raw-vegan snacks around. And I’ve spotted them at Safeway, so they’re easily accessible too! I opened the macaroons and it was like a chocolate factory hit my nose. So good. They’re a perfect little snack for the any time of day really. I had them after a bike ride when I had to shower and was so hungry! They are the size of a brownie bite and fudgy too.

Ingredients: organic maple syrup, organic shredded coconut, dark cocoa, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic Madagascar bourbon vanilla, sea salt.

Available at AmazonHail Merry

Somersault Snacks Co. – Salt & Pepper – ★★★★

Description: All natural, non-GMO sunflower seed nuggets baked with toasted grains.

I didn’t learn of this brand from Vegan Cuts, I think Jeremy picked them up somewhere so it was great to try another flavor. If you like sesame sticks, you will love these nugget incarnations. They are crunchy, salty, pepper-y, vegan, high protein and addictive. Their site isn’t helpful as far as ingredients/allergens go. I think one of the varieties has milk, maybe the cinnamon?? I don’t remember.

King Soba Noodle Culture – Black Rice Ramen – ★★★

Description: Organic, wheat-free King Soba noodles that are exactly what’s missing from your next goddess bowl.

You’re going to laugh at what I’m about to tell you. Because the only ramen I’m familiar with comes in a square packet with seasoning, I thought these were the healthy version. I was super disappointed when I discovered a seasoning packet wasn’t enclosed. That’s when I learned that ramen is a type of noodle dish. But it all worked out. There’s about 4 noodle cakes inside. They cook quickly like the soup I’m familiar with. You can add them to a miso broth, or top them with steamed or stir-fry vegetables. They are very good and happen to be a great source of protein, fiber, and iron.

Ingredients: Organic black rice, organic brown rice flour, water.

Available at AmazonKing Soba

Simply 7 Snacks – Quinoa Chips – ★★★

Description: Protein-packed quinoa chips that combine the high nutrition value of quinoa with the crunchy texture of a multi-grain chip.

I love when Vegan Cuts comes through with a good chip. These are shaped like little sun chips and taste like Pringles. Jeremy was lucky enough to get to try these too and he loved them just as much.

Available at Amazon • Simply 7 Snacks • [find store location] • local peeps will find these at both the Moscow, ID and Pullman, WA Safeways

Antidote Chocolate – Rose Salt & Lemon Chocolate – ★★★

Description: Raw and roasted cacao blended with fruits, nuts, salts, or spices in a powerful and potent superfood chocolate bar.

What a treat! A hybrid of raw food and cooked with a superb take on the common chocolate bar flavor. Rose salt and Lemon? Yes. Please.

Available at AmazonAntidote

Snack Out Loud – Tomato Basil Bean Snacks – ★★★★

Description: Gluten-free, non-GMO and soy-free bean snacks made from protein and fiber-filled pinto beans with an Italian twist.

Simple ingredients with a powerful flavor. I like this new trend of dried/baked bean snacks. A snack pack boasts 7 g of fiber, 7 g of protein, 6 g of fat, 10% Iron, 4% Calcium, and 8% Vitamin A.

Ingredients: Pinto Beans, Sunflower Oil, Tomato Powder, Onion Powder, Sea Salt, Garlic Powder, and Dried Basil.

Available at Amazon • [find store location] • local peeps will find these at Rosauer’s in Moscow, ID

Ocean’s Halo – Seaweed Chips – ★

Description: Crispy, crunchy chips made from sustainably harvested and nutrient rich seaweed with a perfectly salty kick.

I’m sorry. I can’t. I love nori, toasted nori snacks, sushi, and seaweed salads, but I could not stomach these. The smell. The flavor. I just couldn’t.

Ingredients: Organic Seaweed, Organic White Rice Flour, Organic Brown Rice Flour, Organic Tamari (water, soybeans, salt, alcohol), Organic Cane Syrup Solids, Organic Sesame Seeds, Organic Sesame Oil, Organic Onion Powder, Organic Garlic Powder, Sea Salt, Organic Rosemary Extract, Organic Olive Oil. CONTAINS SOY.

Fruigees – 24 Carrot Orange Squeeze Pack – ★★★

Description: Organic, gluten-free and non-GMO fruit snack that delivers delicious fruit and veggie flavor in a convenient squeezable pack.

Great almost tropical flavor!

Ingredients: Organic White Grape Juice, Organic Carrot Juice, Organic Apple Juice, Organic Orange Juice, Organic Tapioca Starch, Carob Bean Gum, Natural Flavors, Citric Acid, and Asorbic Acid.

Peeled Snacks – Cinnamon Crunch Apple Clusters – ★★★

Description: Bite-sized organic apple pieces rolled into tasty clusters to give you a delicious full serving of fruit without refined sugar, fat or preservatives.

Each bag contains a full serving of fruit. I loved these on yogurt and banana ‘ice cream’. They feel like a granola cluster that unrolls into an apple pie—in your mouth. Pretty amazing.

I think all of their products are vegan, but they don’t specifically state in the FAQ.

Ingredients: Organic Apples, Organic Apple Juice Concentrate, and Organic Cinnamon.

Dragonfly Nutrition Bar – Raw Cashew & Dried Fruit Bar – ★★★★

BONUS ITEM

Description: Energy, nutrition, and happiness!

I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of the bar, but it’s great looking! It has a softer texture and the combo of peach and pear is amazing.

The bar shown here and Dragonfly trail mix are their only vegan products.

Ingredients: raw cashew, organic pear, organic peach, organic date, organic rice protein, guar gum, vitamin E (tocopherols)

Available at AmazonDragonfly

Nature’s Bakery – Apple Cinnamon Fig Bar – ★★★★

BONUS ITEM

Description: Whether you’re about to play in the world championship, or in your own backyard, you gotta power up. What better fuel than the juicy goodness of our apple cinnamon fig bar? Juicy (green) apples and a not-so-subtle hint of cinnamon team up for this all-star fig bar.

Time to upgrade your idea of fig bars. The Vegan Cuts snack box introduced me to this brand and I love them. We’ve bought them in bulk on Amazon and 1-2 bars make for a quick breakfast or ample road trip sustenance. They don’t use dairy or egg in their fig bars according to the FAQ. And I just found out they have brownies and was sure they wouldn’t be vegan, but THEY ARE!

Ingredients: Stone Ground Whole Wheat Flour, Dried Cane Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup, Fig Paste, Canola Oil, Apple Paste (Organic Dried Cane Syrup, Naturally Milled Sugar, Modified Food Starch, Apple Powder, Evaporated Apples, Glycerin, Natural Flavors, Pectin, Citric Acid, Cinnamon, Locust Bean Gum, Annatto Extract and Turmeric for color), Rolled Oats, Oat Fiber, Caramel Color (Ammonia-Free), Sea Salt, Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Baking Soda.
