The Veggie Browns. I’ve ordered the veggie browns several times and it’s always delicious. Backup at any restaurant is oatmeal. I usually verify that it’s made with water just to be safe.

🍊 And don’t forget to grab a glass of their fresh-squeezed orange juice. The really cool juicer is right in the front room on display.

They note on their menu that dietary restrictions can be accommodated, so just inquire with a server about the current vegan options.

Many of the salads could be ordered minus the cheese and meat, double-check what’s in the vinaigrette.

Appetizers

  1. Olives
  2. Soya (edamame beans)

Pasta

Ask if they can do pasta with marinara.

Grill and Skillet

  1. Tofu is the only option here and it’s pretty good for a meat-focused restaurant. If you’re vegan, order this minus the tsatsiki sauce. The tofu comes dredged in nutritional yeast and a few spices surrounding some beautifully roasted carrots and zucchini.

Not a lot of options, but it’s worth asking a server what’s available. They do support local legume businesses as well as the WSU Organic Farm, but meat is incorporated into everything. Lentil stew? + two types of meat. Salad? Chicken comes on all of them. It’s usually easy to order a salad without chicken, cheese, or dressing though.

I ordered the falafel wrap with a side of garden salad. edit: the falafel doesn’t appear to be on the menu anymore.

Taco del Mar • 350 E Main St, Pullman WA 99163

I use the VeganXpress app to put together my meal.

Get a couple tacos filled with beans, rice, guacamole, salsa, and lettuce. Add a side of chips and more guacamole and you’re all set. They also have taco punch cards that earn you a free taco.

My Office • 215 S Grand Ave, Pullman WA 99163

We often end up at My Office during football season. It’s a great dive-y kind of place to watch the Bears games. Typical bar food, nothing to write home about, but you do have options. Because it’s going out food and not everyday food, you can get away with ordering fries for your meal. I’ve done that several times. 😁

You can also get one of the salads, though you might need to pick a stray cheese off the tomato 😉 I order a salad with tomatoes, onions, black olives, and croutons (may or may not be vegan), and a side of salsa for the dressing.

Taqueria Chaparrito is one of our favorite places to get tacos. They are deliciously unique and remind me of ordering in Aurora, IL.

I love getting the street tacos with veggies. The veggies are a blend of cauliflower, tomatoes, cilantro, onion, peppers, and more. I usually order 2-3 with a side of guacamole. You can get a variety of salsas and pickled vegetables at their salsa bar.

There are a few other options that could be ordered veggie, but so far I’ve stuck with the tacos. They are my FAVORITE!

Zoe Coffee House & Pub • 1005 E Main St, Pullman WA 99163

Start with the Build Your Own Hoagie. Unless you’re extremely picky you won’t be disappointed. I get tomatoes, onion, lettuce, pickles, black olives, and mustard. Good times. Their fries are THE BEST. Get 5 of those.

If you’re vegetarian they have a garden burger, if you’re vegan ask if it contains egg. I usually always go with BYOH so I haven’t tried that route.

Another good option is the Eat Your Veggies. Swap out the tomato-pesto bread for a standard roll and order without the cheese. The sandwich itself is a delicious blend of sautéed veggies.

Last but not least, the Green Dinner Salad. Always go with the large, because even that isn’t that big. Get a side of fries to make it complete. 🙂

Red Bento • 395 NE Stadium Way, Pullman WA 99163

Sushi is pretty easy. Any vegetable you see in a roll you can order in a roll by itself or with other veggies. My favorite anywhere is the avocado roll. It’s always good and hits the spot. Red Bento also happens to have several fruit rolls, just order them without the cream cheese and usual suspects. If you’ve tried other non-sushi items off the menu, let us know in the comments.
