I was inspired to make today’s blueberry maqui madness smoothie after a recent trip to Portland’s Kiva Tea Bar and Spa. We were delighted to receive a sample smoothie using Navita Naturals freeze-dried maqui berry powder. What is a maqui berry? Maqui berries are native to Chile and offer innumerable antioxidants.

“The berries are particularly potent in anti-aging flavonoids like anthocyanins and polyphenols. Additionally, the fruit offers a premium source of vitamin C, iron, potassium, and natural anti-inflammatory compounds.” – Navitas Naturals

Navitas Naturals had gifted me (Thank you!) with some very generous samples of their lucuma and maqui powders and cacao sweet nibs due to the popularity of my Banana ‘Reese’s’ Bites post.

There is a very special dessert that I’ve envisioned for the maqui berry powder, but for today I’m very excited to share this smoothie creation.

It felt extra satisfying drinking a powerful vitamin and antioxidant rich smoothie in the midst of a country seemingly overtaken by various colds. Jeremy and I have sustained our health thus far and I can only surmise it’s due to our a.m. green smoothies and anticipation for the return of The Walking Dead on February 10th. 😉

This smoothie is incredibly refreshing and a vibrant gorgeous shade of violet. Enjoy!

There is a place in seaside Florida called raw and juicy that has a smoothie called anti-oxidant that has maqui in it. Delicious and refreshing.
