Hello Apple Cranberry Relish!
We picked up $1.99 bag of cranberries last night because I figured it’s never too early to master a new clean cranberry recipe for the holidays.
It’s amusing and a little terrifying some still find it necessary to use 1 cup of processed sugar in a recipe as seen on the bag of cranberries. There are so many easier alternatives and it just takes looking at things through a different lens and with a little practice it becomes second nature. In this version I decided to use an applesauce I’m infatuated with, also from Trader Joe’s and I have to say it brings a wonderful natural sweetness to the tart and tangy of the cranberry.
Bring this beautiful relish to upcoming holiday feasts. It’s the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Personally, I’m wondering why I don’t make cranberry things more often. Mmm!
Apple Cranberry Relish
Ingredients
- 1 - 12 oz bag fresh cranberries (about 3 cups)
- 5 medjool dates, pitted
- 1 tablespoon organic raw agave (optional)
- 1 cup Trader Joe's Big & Chunky applesauce (or similar)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch sea salt
Instructions
- Pulse cranberries, dates, and agave in a food processor fitted with the s-blade until coarsely chopped. Add applesauce, cinnamon and salt and pulse until mixed.
We enjoyed this last night with a pile of oven cooked veggies. I think we might’ve had an early Thanksgiving dinner minus the 1,000 other side dishes one could have. 😉 End result happy bellies! I look forward to sharing that dish plus 2 types of raw vegan trail mix I have in the dehydrator. So stay tuned!
What’s your favorite holiday dish? Mine…. green bean casserole. Hands down.
XOXO
