Jeremy works from home and I work from home. This smoothie was made by Jeremy and orchestrated by me, while I washed the dishes with rubber gloves on. One of the goals in this smoothie was to use some of our maca powder. He is approaching a work deadline later this week and already went through a pot of coffee today and is feeling the beginnings of the afternoon slump. We won’t talk about coffee and how it may have contributed to the slump, but we will talk about why I wanted to make a smoothie using maca 😉

If you haven’t heard, the root vegetable, maca is pretty amazing. Here are some Maca Quick Facts:

  • Similar in size to radishes and turnips
  • During Spanish colonization, maca was used as currency
  • Increases energy
  • great for our adrenal glands
  • increase your ‘sexies’
  • decrease anxiety
  • great in smoothies
  • mostly tasteless or very subtle vanilla tones
  • maca powder is just dried maca root, ground into powder (there may be some heat processing, unless you look for a raw brand)
  • I ordered our ‘raw’ brand through Amazon
